15 LOCAL FILM SCREENINGS IN 8 NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS FROM AUGUST 28 – SEPTEMBER 2.

The Chicago Park District is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Chicago Onscreen Local Film Showcase in eight parks citywide. Our tenth season of films made by Chicagoans and/or featuring homegrown talent will return to parks August 28 - September 2, 2023. In addition to the fifteen official film selections, the weeklong movie festival in our parks will also feature partnerships with other Chicago film organizations and festivals.

The theme of this year’s fifteen film selections is looking towards the future, while reflecting on the ten years of local films spotlighted during the film festival.

To date, Chicago Onscreen has brought 163 Chicago-made films to Chicago Parks with 84 free, public screenings in 54 parks across Chicago for 5,045 local film lovers and counting! This film festival gives Chicagoans an opportunity to get excited to see their city, their neighborhood and their lives onscreen - and to experience the many sides, sites and stories of Chicago in ways only Chicagoans could tell them.

Selected from nearly 60 submissions from across the city, 2023’s Official Selections feature the work of dozens of Chicago filmmakers and film workers. Featuring animated films, short films, feature-length films, narratives and documentaries, the Chicago Onscreen Local Film Showcase brings together professional Chicago filmmakers, amateur filmmakers and student filmmakers to share and present park screenings.
